My throat and nose passage way dries up with the Santa Ana winds. What can I do?

I was just sleeping this morning and I woke up feeling pain in my throat and nostrils because it was so dry. This is the second time this happened to me with the Santa Ana winds came. I only been here in CA for a year now. What can I do to prevent this from happening again?
