Doe anyone know anything about the Santa Ana River Bed Trail in OC, Calif?

I am thinking of biking it from Anaheim Hills to Costa Mesa. Someone told me that going through Santa Ana is risky, as there are many taggers and homeless people that hang out there. Anyone have experience with that ride?

    The riverbed trail ever since it is hell of alot safer than riding through santa ana.
